School visit report

I did visit school at MTsS Al-Mannar Banda Aceh in class 2c MTsS, the goal was to observe what media were used by teachers in the classroom and I observe in class 2c. There are 20 students in the class and all of the student in the class are women. Time of teaching and learning process 08.50 – 10.10 (Second course).

Before starting the lesson, At the beginning of the lesson the teacher reviews a bit about the previous material. After reviewing the previous material then the teacher starts with the new material. Media used by teachers is a book. At that time, the learning material was about quantifier. During the learning process takes place, the teacher also teaches the students how to pronounce a word. When explaining the material, the teacher does a pretty good interaction with the students and the students respond well. Class is relaxed and the students enjoy the class. The media used by the teacher is a book, but the teacher is not too fixated on the book.

When teaching and explaining the material the teacher not only focus on the package book and not only provide examples in the book, but the teacher also provides examples close to the students and those around the students. In the middle of the lesson after explaining the material the teacher asks the students whether there is any question or not, after that the teacher instructs the students to open their package book and give the students exercises to be done within 5 minutes. The exercise is making some examples of the material being taught that is the quantifier. After 5 minutes the teacher announces that the time has run out and the students have to stop working on their exercise even though it is not finished yet. The teacher also asks the students to close the package books and student notebooks. The teacher asks some students about the exercises that they are doing that relate to the material being taught. For students who can not answer the questions given by the teacher then the students should stand near the bench they sit. If students want to sit then they should be able to improve the answers of questions given by the teacher. There are some students who can answer questions from teachers who are also not. After the students returned to sit on their respective benches. The teacher again explained about the material being taught.


At the end of the lesson the teacher asks the students to do the task for 15 minutes. The task is to make an example of quantifiers (much, many, and a lot) of 10 samples each, so the sum of all tasks is 30 examples of the quantifier. After the students finished working on the task then collected to the teacher. Based on interview with the teacher about any media that has been used in additional to the package book. The teacher sometimes also use laptop and infocus when teaching and learing process.
